1What is JESS?

2What is infrared heating?

Infrared heating is a technology that generates heat in a way similar to the sun: instead of heating the air, it directly warms surfaces, objects, and people within the room.

This type of heat is very natural, uniform, and comfortable, as it provides an immediate sensation of warmth even when the air temperature is lower than that required by traditional systems.

In practice, there is no moving or blowing air; the heat is felt directly on the body, just like sunlight on a cool day.

3How does infrared heating work, in simple terms?

It operates through thin heating elements that emit far infrared (FIR) waves.

The process is straightforward:

  1. The JESS system generates invisible thermal waves.
  2. These waves reach walls, floors, furnishings, and people, which absorb the heat.
  3. Once heated, the surfaces slowly release the heat into the room, maintaining a stable and comfortable temperature.

Unlike radiator or forced-air heating, it does not create air currents, does not dry out the air, and does not cause heat stratification with warm air at the ceiling and cold air near the floor.

4What components make up this technology?

JESS technology is based on a patented heating membrane composed of three main elements:

  • A thermally conductive element, responsible for uniform heat generation.
  • One or more reinforcement layers, providing mechanical strength and long-term durability.
  • A protective plastic film that insulates and protects the system without increasing its thickness.

The overall thickness is extremely low, approximately 0.5 mm, allowing installation beneath any type of flooring without altering room height.

5How efficient is infrared heating?

It is highly efficient, as it uses energy more effectively than traditional heating systems.

By directly heating surfaces, it minimizes heat loss to the air and achieves the same level of comfort with lower thermostat settings.

Many rooms feel comfortable at 18–19 °C, compared to the 21–22 °C typically required by radiators or forced-air systems.

6Does the JESS system heat rooms quickly?

Yes.

Radiant heat is perceived immediately, while the room temperature increases gradually and evenly.

On average, a well-insulated room requires 10–20 minutes to reach the set temperature.

7Can an entire home be heated with JESS?

Absolutely.

The system is designed to operate both in individual rooms and as the primary heating system for an entire dwelling.

Thanks to installation under floors, walls, or ceilings, heat is distributed evenly throughout all spaces.

8Does the heating film increase floor height?

Practically not.

The film is extremely thin, about 0.5 mm, thinner than a credit card.

It is ideal for renovation projects, as it integrates easily under flooring such as laminate, vinyl, LVT, or parquet without requiring structural modifications.

Only in the case of ceramic tiles is a leveling compound required, adding just a few millimeters.

9Is the system safe?

Yes, it is extremely safe.

The JESS system operates at low voltage (≤50 V) for indoor environments, eliminating the risk of electric shock or overheating.

PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) technology automatically prevents excessive temperatures.

Additionally, there are no mechanical components, exposed wires, or overheating parts typical of traditional radiators.

10Does it require maintenance?

No, the system is completely maintenance-free.

There are no pumps, valves, boilers, or filters to replace.

Once installed, it operates silently and consistently throughout its service life.

11How much energy does a JESS electric underfloor heating system consume?

The JESS film converts approximately 98% of the electrical energy it uses into heat.

This results in minimal energy waste and significantly lower operating costs compared to conventional resistive heating systems.

Actual consumption depends on:

  • room size
  • insulation level
  • operating time
  • desired temperature

In most cases, it provides substantial savings compared to electric radiators or poorly sized heat pumps.

12Can it be installed independently?

Installation of the heating film is simple and can be carried out by users with basic practical skills.

However, for electrical connections, the use of a qualified installer is always recommended to ensure safety, certification compliance, and optimal performance.

13Which floor coverings are compatible?

JESS can be installed beneath:

  • laminate flooring
  • engineered wood flooring
  • vinyl / LVT
  • carpet (with suitable underlay)
  • ceramic tiles (with self-leveling compound)

This makes it suitable for both renovation projects and new constructions.

14Can the system be controlled remotely?

Yes, when paired with a smart thermostat.

This allows users to:

  • adjust temperature via smartphone
  • schedule heating times room by room
  • optimize energy consumption
  • integrate with Alexa, Google Home, or Apple HomeKit

15Is infrared heating suitable for people with allergies?

Yes, this is one of its key advantages.

Because it does not move air like fan-assisted systems or traditional radiators, it does not circulate dust, pollen, or allergens.
